2023 MTSA Honors Recital Nominations

Student Nominations

The MTSA Honors Recital features our teacher's most committed and diligent students and will be held in the St. Cecilia Academy Theatre (Nashville) on February 5, 2023, from 2–4 p.m. MTSA Teachers may each nominate up to three students to perform on the recital. Teachers submit their nominations by registering for this event.

Teachers should nominate committed student(s) who practice consistently and work hard for high achievement, regardless of level (Pre-Twinkle, Intermediate or Advanced), who are members of the MTSA.

Nominations will open December 5th, 2022 and close on January 8th, 2023. 

Please nominate students in order of preference. You must include full details of the pieces to be performed by the nominated students at the time of registration. Students and teachers must both have an active Associate Membership in good standing as of January 8th for nominations to be accepted.

Acceptance, Attendance, and Reception

The MTSA Honors Recital Committee will inform teachers of how many of their nominated students will have the opportunity to perform (based on recital length and confirmation of active MTSA membership) on or before January 22nd, 2023. 

Out of respect for all performers, accepted students, parents, & guests, must agree to attend the entire recital.

A reception will follow the recital.

Pianists, Rehearsals, and Fees (oh my!)

By accepting the teacher's nomination to perform a work with piano accompaniment, the student and parent agree to the following policies:

• The student will perform with the staff pianist provided by the MTSA Honors Recital Committee. Exceptions will be permitted only with MTSA Honors Recital Committee advanced approval.
• The pianist's fees are covered by the MTSA.
• Attendance at the scheduled recital rehearsal with the accompanist is required to perform.
• Rehearsals with the pianist will be scheduled for the afternoon/evening of Friday, February 3rd, 2023.
• If a student cannot attend the MTSA-scheduled rehearsal, the parent must arrange an alternate rehearsal directly with the pianist; the pianist's fee for this alternate rehearsal time will not be covered by MTSA.
• Any alternate rehearsals must also occur on or before February 4th, 2023.
