MTSA Concertos Night!

The third annual MTSA Concertos Night is a play-down focused on repertoire with orchestral accompaniment. Students will perform "concerto-style" works (pieces for solo and orchestra) backed by an orchestra of teachers. Experience the rich musical experience of playing in front of an orchestra together with your MTSA friends!

Join us to play your favorite concerts together with area teachers!

Concerto Competition 2026 (8 Nov 2026)

Auditions for the 7th Annual MTSA Concerto Competition will be held Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Akiva School, 809 Percy Warner Blvd, Nashville, TN 37205, between 1:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon.

The competition is open to students on all instruments who are active members of the MTSA, and whose teachers are active members of the MTSA. Students may only compete once each year in either a concerto or duo concerto. Past winners of the concerto competition may not compete in the three years following their winning performance (i.e. winners of the 2023 Concerto Competition will be eligible to compete again in 2027).

Registration will open October 1st, and close November 1st. Please use the "register" button on the left to submit your registration. Late registrations cannot be accepted.

Audition Requirements: Perform, from memory, a movement of a concerto from your instrument's Suzuki repertoire.** Each performer is responsible for their own pianist for the audition. No time or space for rehearsal will be available on the day of the audition.

Winner(s) will perform their piece on the 2026 MTSA Honors Recital, accompanied by a string orchestra, comprised of MTSA teachers and interested area professional musicians.

The 2027 Honors Recital will be March 21st, 2027, at time and location TBD.

** Special exception: If an audition piece as presented in the Suzuki repertoire is a shortened excerpt from the full movement, the student entering has the choice whether to compete with the Suzuki excerpt or the the original form of the piece (an example would be the Golterman Rondo for cello).

Greater Nashville Suzuki Play-Down LXI

Join us on Superbowl Sunday for a Suzuki play-down! Location TBD, but the play-down is open to the entire Middle Tennessee Suzuki community and the event is open to all Suzuki violin, viola, cello, and brass students! Come for an early afternoon of beautiful music to compliment your gameday traditions.
