INDIVIDUAL MASTERCLASS LESSONS

4:00 – 8:00pm ….. check-in 30 minutes prior to lesson time.
Location – 210 Mayfair Rd, Nashville, TN 37205
Description: 20 min lessons, 2 lesson max per student, scheduled first come, first served basis (enrollment in the Saturday Workshop is required).

12:00 – 1:15pm LUNCH BREAK 1:15pm MTSA ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING & MTSA BOARD MEMBERS AT LARGE ELECTION RESULTS ANNOUNCED 

1:30pm EDMUND SPRUNGER LECTURE “Ideas for Successful Practice”, SCA Theater, Rm 416 KIDS ZONE – supervised activities provided in SCA courtyard (weather permitting) or SCA GYM Rm 401 

2:30pm GROUP CLASSES*** The Friday PRE-TWINKLE/EARLY BK 1 GROUP CLASS joins Dr. Terry Durbin’s 2:30 pm Group Class in the SCA Theater 

3:45pm FINAL WORKSHOP CONCERT(including Pre-Twinkle/Twinklers)


 

WORKSHOP FEES:

ONLINE REGISTRATION opens August 5, 2019 -  PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED IN ORDER TO SECURE REGISTRATION.  ***NO REFUNDS AFTER SEPT. 21, 2019***

Workshop participants will receive a 2019 Workshop T-shirt (sizes selected during registration). Additional T- shirts may also be purchased ($15) during registration. T-shirt order deadline is September 14, 2019.

MTSA ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE (Aug 1 – July 31): $25 Family, $35 Teacher *Required

SATURDAY WORKSHOP TUITION: $120 – FOUR GROUP CLASSES (including a Fiddle Class), CLINICIAN/PARENT Q & A, KID ZONE & FINAL CONCERT!

MASTER CLASS lessons (first come, first served): $35 - 20 minute lesson; 2 lessons max per student (enrollment in Saturday Workshop is required). Students and Parents are encouraged to stay for the entire lesson hour.

PRE-TWINKLE/TWINKLE BEGINNING CLASSES: $80  Students will also join Dr. Durbin’s Saturday Workshop class at 2:30pm in the SCA Theater, as well as perform a Pre-Twinkle/Early Bk 1 demonstration on the Final Workshop Concert at 3:45.

ADVANCED TEEN GROUP CLASS / PIZZA PARTY: $35 (pizza included). This class may be added, in addition to the max 2 Masterclass lessons.  (enrollment in the Saturday Workshop is required to participate in the Teen Class). LIBERTANGO by Piazzolla and Suzuki advanced pieces will be rehearsed in this class and performed at the Final Workshop Concert on Saturday at 3:45.

***Students must be accompanied by a parent to Master Class lessons and Workshop classes. All siblings, family &/or guests are the responsibility of the registered parent at all times during Workshop lessons, classes & Final Concert.

TEACHER OBSERVATIONS: Free to current MTSA Teacher Members....includes unlimited Workshop observations, Friday Night Pizza Party, Saturday Clinician’s Luncheon & the Sunday Teacher Enrichment Seminar with Dr. Terry Durbin.

Bk 7 – Mozart Minuet, Corelli Allegro

SPECIAL PIECE (Advanced Bk 4+):   

  • LIBERTANGO by Piazzolla for 3 violins. Dr. Durbin’s ADVANCED TEEN GROUP CLASS will rehearse “LIBERTANGO”, plus advanced Suzuki Bks 5-8 pieces. *** Teachers, please distribute the 3 parts of “LIBERTANGO” evenly within your studio ***

FIDDLE TUNES (memorize, if possible): 

  • Beginner/Intermediate – “BUFFALO GALS” (with verses) from “Fiddle & Song, Bk 1: A Sequenced Guide to American Fiddling" by Crystal Plohman Wiegman (available through Shar or Amazon). 
  • Advanced – “JERUSALEM’S RIDGE” arranged by Crystal Plohman Wiegman.

 The special piece & advanced fiddle music was chosen and distributed to teacher members in February 2019. Teacher members should contact secretary@middletnsuzuki.org if music is still needed.
